Feast Festival – London’s Biggest Picnic – Battersea, London
The fabulous ‘Foodie Festival’ has been a runaway success since 2007. This summer they have added a new event to their calendar – The Feast Festival at Battersea. Located next to the British Genus site at Battersea Park. This is a chance for more people to experience the ultimate festival for foodie lovers, experiencing the best and largest selection of restaurant, street food and speciality food and drink producers from around the UK.
Pop-ups include many recognisable names starting with Mango Tree, Boqueria, Supper Club and Mazi. Displaying their culinary skills in the Chef’s Theatre are guest chefs Shelina Permalloo (Masterchef Champion), Ben Tish and Jose Pizzaro to name but a few. Having attended the Foodie Festivals at Clapham Common and Hampton Court Palace I can highly recommend you pop your head in to the Chefs Theatre and take a seat. It is fantastic to see chefs at the top of their profession showing us their skills in real time. You might even pick up a few tips!
Other areas of the Festival to look out for will be the BBQ Arena, Farmers Market, Street Food Avenue,The Vineyard and the Children’s Cookery Theatre, a great place to get your little ones interested in cooking. There are also dedicated masterclasses in speciality tents where you can learn to perfect the art of sushi making, cocktails and what to do should you be able to afford to buy truffles.
After tasting all that food and watching the experts you’ll need somewhere to relax and take in the ambience. They’ve got that covered too. There is an Entertainment Stage providing all kinds of music throughout the day, the Ping-Pong Zone and a special area called Foodies By The Sea which includes a man-made beach and deckchairs. This last one is near the stalls selling mussels, cockles and ice-cream. Bliss.
If their previous festivals are anything to go by this one is going to be a corker too. And if the sun makes an appearance? Well, that will just top off what promises to be a great day out. Still thinking about it? I’ve provided the link to buy tickets below to make it easy for you so what are you waiting for? Go on, tantalise your taste buds and get yourself down to Battersea!
