Foodies Festival – Hampton Court Palace – May 25,26 and 27 2013 – London

The Foodies Festival returns to Hampton Court Palace for it’s fifth consecutive year! A veritable smorgasboard of top chefs will be there offering up a taster of their culinary skills including Ed Baines, Gennaro Contaldo, Martin Blunos (Iron Chef) and Steve Drake from The Ivy to name a few. The chefs will appear in the Chefs Theatre cooking some of their signature dishes and letting you in on their secrets so you can replicate the dishes at home. The theatre will be presented by the winner of masterchef 2012 Shelina Permalloo who says she is looking forward to hosting and having a lot of fun up on the stage.

New elements being introduced to the Foodie Festival this year include the Cake and Bake Theatre, sure to be popular with the resurgence of interest in tv baking shows and a specially dedicated Chocolate Theatre with daily demonstrations from David Greenwood-Haigh from Divine Chocolate. You can also learn about the health benefits of chocolate from Fiona Sciolti who will also explain her botanical chocolates made from fruits, flowers, herbs etc which have won her many accolades and awards.

If you are looking forward to summer then you will also be interested in another new element this year. A dedicated BBQ area where you can take part in BBQ classes and competitions. I can see that one being of particular interest to all the blokes out there, they love a good BBQ right?
The Children’s Cookery Theatre makes a popular return and will include a series of workshops and gastronomic experiments that are sure to excite our many budding chefs out there.

Cookery events play a predominant part in this festival and there is sure to be something for everyone but if you want to take a break and wander the exquisite gardens surrounding Henry VIII’s Palace you will find lots of other things to intrigue and excite your palate. There is a large Producers’ Market. a Wine Village, Street Food Avenue and the City Beach where the grown-ups can enjoy a lovely afternoon tea etc whilst the little ones play in the sand area.

Fancy a beauty treatment too? Well, that’s taken care of as well as Elemis will be offering treatments in a specially converted London Bus!

The Entertainment Stage features live music and a closing time of 8pm, what a lovely way to unwind in this spectacular setting as the sun goes down on what I hope is a beautiful, sunny weekend.

Forks at the ready, wine glass in hand, it going to be an awesome way to spend the Bank Holiday!
