There are quite a few gin bars popping up all over London in the last few years. It seems gin is the latest drink to be seen sipping if you want to be on trend. The Gin Palace at the Strand Palace Hotel certainly deserves to be in any top 10 list of best gin cocktail bars to checkout. Situated off the main foyer in the hotel, the Gin Palace is an inviting hotel bar with excellent service and mixology as befits a higher-end hotel and the cocktail list is pretty awesome too.

The Cara

I visited at the start of London fashion Week where I tried a variety of mostly gin-based cocktails with a few other spirits thrown in for good measure. Naming some of the cocktails after leading ladies on the catwalk past and present the clever mixologists have created cocktails based around their namesakes favourite tipples. I was delighted with the results! My favourites included The Cara (Cara Delevigne), The Naomi (Naomi Campbell) and surprisingly the one I enjoyed most was The Kate Moss. Whilst many of the cocktails were gin-based The Kate Moss was not. It was a Jack Daniels cocktail which whilst I do not drink it very often was certainly a game changer in introducing my taste buds to something outside of my comfort zone.

Whilst the list of gins is not the biggest I’ve seen it certainly has some interesting, not commonly found, offerings including from far flung countries more widely known for their wine producing. There are some delicious bar snacks if you need to line your tum and also a gin based afternoon tea which I would like to try out next time too.

The Strand Palace Hotel is located on The Strand at number 372 and opposite The Savoy Theatre. The hotel is perfectly situated for pre and post-theatre aperitifs or for that winding-down after work drink. Final thought, if you’re not sure which cocktail to try first I can also recommend the signature ‘372’ cocktail to get you started.
