Havana Club Nights – Soho, London
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum! I can’t claim to know who originally coined this phrase but whoever it was certainly knew about rum, a great one really does make you feel good. If you’ve ever wanted to improve your knowledge on the making of rum or to try a taste of the Cuban lifestyle then Havana Club evenings at Kettner’s in Soho are going to right up your street.
From the 10th-13th September 2014, Havana Club are taking over the top floor of the fabulous Georgian buildings that form Kettner’s, a place of glamour and unabashed revelry since 1867. At the start of your journey you will be given a Cuban ‘passport’ which is stamped as you move through the stages of your evening. Starting from 6pm groups are taken every 20 minutes through different rooms where you will learn about the history of Havana, the production of rum and how it has evolved and naturally how to make the perfect Cuban mojito (don’t worry, you’ll be able to have tasters of some of the drinks as you go along!). After this, which lasts a total of 1 hour, you will step through a doorway into the world of Cuba. Here is where the party starts or should I say fiesta! Decorated in true Cuban style there is a bar, music, entertainment and street food. A great place to relax, throw some shapes and get to know your fellow revellers.
If you wish to eat before your experience, the Kettner’s brasserie is offering a special Cuban menu priced at £19.50 for 2 courses or £24.50 for 3. Some of the choices available include Swordfish ceviche, Grilled baby chicken with chorizo, achiote and mustard greens and a delicious sounding Havana mojito cake!
Tickets are available from at £18 each so ladies, go find your inner rumba dancer, men throw on your guayabera shirts, or just come as you are. Either way you can be sure it’s going to be one for the books, I’ll see you there!
