Review – View 94 – views over the Thames and delicious Italian food
Walking along The Thames near Putney Bridge you will come along the latest dining establishment to join others around the Wandsworth Jetty. Led by award-winning chef Antonio Sanzone and inspired by his Italian roots, I checked out the new autumn menu. The restaurant has been beautifully designed and reminds me of being on a super yacht, quite apt with it being situated alongside the banks of The Thames.
Our evening started with a few choice cocktails in the ground floor bar before we ascended the stairs up to the main ‘deck’. The menu is not complicated, a selection of 4 dishes in each section. I was torn between the scallops and the beef tartar to start. I went with the tartar which was a little too chunky for my liking and would have benefited from some more flavouring in. Whilst the beef was clearly prepared to be the star of the show I like more capers/pepper etc in mine,
nbb although saying that the parmesan crisp was a triumph and the scallops of my fellow diner looked awesome!
The main for me was the best of all the dishes. I chose Lobster Moka risotto served with spring onion puree and spicy tomatoes coulis finished with shellfish cappuccino. It was fresh, flavourful and an excellent portion size. The only thing to be aware of as with anything made with squid ink, check your lips afterwards, black is not making a comeback as a lipstick any time soon!
As regular readers will know, I don’t have the sweet tooth so hooray, there was a cheeseboard in the dessert section. Made with British-sourced cheeses including a very luxurious comte, creamy gouda and excellent blue, it was a delightful way to end the meal.
The prices are quite reasonable for being around Putney and the jetty opposite the restaurant would be lovely for a chilled glass of something cold in the summer. View 94 is a lovely place for some decent Italian food with a couple of cocktails before going out for the evening. Salut!
