RiverFood Event – 21st July – Aboard MV Royalty – Festival Pier
Summer has finally arrived in London and when the sun comes out what do we all like to do? Spend time on the water! For most of us that means heading down to the Thames to bask in the sunshine and reminisce about how good life is. What if you could do all that and enjoy some great, locally sourced food, celebrating what we can find naturally in our local freshwaters, whilst onboard one of the oldest ships on the Thames?
Riverfood is a new foodie event and the brainchild of Phil Cooper, Amo Marsman and Andrea Britton of Coopers Restaurant Consultants. Phil Cooper’s career as a top chef spans more than 30 years in the business. As one of the most successful chefs in the UK he has worked with many of the top restaurants in the country including Claridges, The Mirabelle and Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons.
The inaugural event takes place aboard MV Royalty this Sunday and will showcase a wide selection of dishes which are sourced from rivers throughout the UK including the Thames Estuary. Many of the ingredients are underused and so it is very important to get them known and show people just how good they can taste. An awareness of what is actually out on the market is a great incentive to get us all to buy British and support restaurants specialising in British fayre. Some of the dishes awaiting discerning palates include Hollow Shore Oysters with Green Tabasco Jelly, Pike and Green Peppercorn Sausage with Puy Lentils and Roast Duck with Pickled Gooseberry to name but a few.
It promises to be a fabulous banquet for the tastebuds and a great chance to meet like-minded people. So, let’s raise a glass of bubbly and get prepared to try some outstanding food in the sunshine, cheers!
